Lord Purvis of Tweed is the Liberal Democrat Lords Spokesperson for Foreign Affairs, Development and International Trade. Jeremy is a working peer and one of the youngest ever Life Peers. He was elected to the Scottish Parliament as the youngest constituency Member of Scottish Parliament (MSP), aged 29. He served two terms in Scottish Parliament before he was appointed to the House of Lords aged 39 in 2013. Jeremy advocates for development and peacebuilding and co-chairs the All Party Parliamentary Group (a cross-party group in parliament) on Trade out of Poverty, and piloted the 0.7% International Development Assistance Act through the House of Lords in 2015.

Jeremy studied Politics and History and remains committed to and lives in the Scottish Borders. He took the title Tweed after his native river; being born at its mouth and representing its source in his former constituency.
