Ambassador Roberto Tanzi-Albi is a retired diplomat with thirty-seven years of experience in the Finnish diplomatic service. He worked under ten Foreign Ministers and four presidents, mainly on three policy areas: the Middle East, European Security and Political Integration, and Public Diplomacy.

Roberto’s years abroad coincided roughly with three paradigmatic changes: posts in Riyadh and Washington at the end of the Cold War and the dawn of the “unipolar world order”; in Paris and Tallinn during the high tide of Euro-Atlantic consolidation; and then as Ambassador in Cairo and Madrid, characterized by the upheavals of the Arab uprisings and the global financial crisis.

As Ambassador to Egypt, Sudan, and to the League of Arab States, Roberto ended his career as a senior Advisor in the Middle East and North Africa Department of the Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs.
